Charlie Mariano - Tango Para Charlie (CD)Born in Boston, November 12, 1923 Charlie Mariano started his career as professional musician in 1953 with the Stan Kenton Orchestra. After moving to Los Angeles he worked with Frank Rosalino, Shelly Mann and others. In 1959 he married Japanese pianist Toshiko Akiyoshi and founded a quartet with her. In 1962 he played with Charles Mingus, recording two albums with him. After spending two years in Japan with Toshiko he moved back to Boston and taught
